1.INTRODUCTION

1: Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas:

The Distance Education Programme is a major interventions under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan., Created by the MHRD Government of India. On 1st July 2003, to implement the distance education activities under SSA in the country. Indira Gandhi National Open University is the nodal agency responsible for implementing the distance education component throughout the country. This national level project aims at providing need-based and local specific training to teachers and other elementary education functionaries associated with SSA and RTE by employing the open distance learning mode.

This programme, is very innovative and useful programme to the students and teachers also, which creates interest among them about the academic areas, life skills and attracts towards the school.

2.AIMS OF THE DISTANCE EDUCATION

  • To render the academic areas to the students in an attractive way.
  • To learn life skills.
  • To attract the students towards the school.
  • To improve the regularity of the students.
  • To train the teachers in their subject areas.
  • To give instructions to implement the new programmes effectively from time to time.
  • To render the quality education to the students.
  • To supplement the regular class room teaching learning process.
  • To reduce the burden of the teachers who are working in the multi grade teaching context.

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED IN – 2014-2015

I. SRG Meeting

Organized State Resource Group meeting on 30/6/2014 with the members of C&DSE, A.P., Director, SCERT, Director, SIET, Director, All India Radio, Director, AMOS, CEO, SAPNET, Director, UNICEF, and SRG/Teachers reviewed the activities conducted during 2013-14 and discussed on the activities to be conducted in 2014-15.

II. Details of Programmes implementing in the State

i) Vindam Nerchukundam

“Vindam Nerchukundam” Radio programme has been implementing for Primary classes i.e., Class-I to V. On Friday Teachers training programme is also being broadcasted for takingup of effective teaching strategies. ‘Radio Lessons’ are provided to the students for effective clarification of doubts with easy understanding through radio lessons. They can set the knowledge in different ways as it was already deal with their regular teachers. It is being implemented all the primary schools and Upper Primary Schools.

Interactive Radio Instructions (Radio Lessons) are planned for achieving Quality Education in Primary classes by taking support from well equipped teachers in the form of songs and small role plays.

a. Objectives:
  • To improve the regularity of the students.
  • To train the teachers in their subject areas.
  • To render the quality education to the students.
  • To supplement the regular class room teaching learning process.
  • To reduce the burden of the teachers who are working in the multi grade teaching context.

  • Suggestions received in Phone in Programmesconducted by SPD/ASPD on 31.12.2014 and 31.03.2015. Action taken as per suggestions.

a Radio broadcasting time i.e., 11:15 to 11:45 should be adjusted as per the academic calendar time table. So as to avoid the interruption in the school time table

b Supply of CDs of IRI lessons & Songs to the schools in advance. Action will be taken on uploading in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan web site w.e.f 01.07.2015
c Supply of Teacher guide for classes 3rd 4th and 5th in advance. Already prepared and supplied to the project Officers with a request to print and supply to the schools.
d 1st & 2nd Class English lessons are not as per syllabus. Rhymes & Songs are broadcasted for the benefit of students. However action will be taken for Broadcasting of lessons as per syllabus from the Academic year 2015-2016.
e English lessons for 3rd,4th and 5th classes are to be broadcasted The work is entrusted to the SCERT for preparation of scripts. After completion of the work it will be developed and broadcasted from 2015-16
f Broadcasting is not clear in certain districts The Radio Programmes are broadcasting from 7 Radio stations to cover up 13 districts in the state. List of contact phone numbers and names of responsible officers of AIR were communicated to Project Officers, with a request contact and intimate to the Headmasters of the schools to contact the concerned officer if any problems arised in Broadcasting
ii) “Meena Prapancham” a Radio Programe” :

Meena Prapancham is an innovative entertainment-Education Radio Program being implemented by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with the technical support of UNICEF. This programme was broadcasted through (7) AIR Stations to cover (13) Districts in the State, w.e.f. 06-10-2014 to 28-02-2015 between 11.45 am to 12.00 Noon from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

This Radio programme is meant for improving health, cleanness, child friendly atmosphere, child rights and inculcating moral values among the children. This is meant for 11-14 age group who are studying 6th to 8th classes and for the teachers who are dealing the above classes.

Meena Prapancham posters, Meena dairies, Meena programme schedule has been supplied to all UP & High Schools.

  • “Meena Prapancham” radio programme for class-VI, VII & VIII being broadcasted from 11:45 AM to 12:00 Noon. Various themes such as Girl Education, Healthy Habits, Usage of Toilets etc.
  • Radio programmes are being utilized as supplementary activity in addition to the regular teaching learning process

  • The UNICEF has supplied Posters, Radio schedules and Teacher guide to all UP Schools and High Schools through Project Officers in the State.
iii) Teleconferences through MANA TV(SAPNET).

Teleconference is one of the Distance Education mode which is very effectively implementing to train the teachers in different activities like

  • implementation of CCE
  • development of Model School concept for changing the class room practices and assessment procedure in the light of CCE
  • implementation of class room practices
  • implementation of school, activities and innovative activities for all round development of the children

It has decided to conduct Teleconferences through “MANA TV” (SAPNET) twice in a month during 2015-16 from 01.07.2015 to 31.03.2016

iv) Audio CDs

Developed (8)Audio CDs of Songs/Rhymes /Narratives with assistance of SIET and Supply to the CAL Schools through Project Officers in the State

v) Video Lessons through Multimedia CDs/IMLOs(Interactive Multimedia Learning Objectives) and Android System
  • Developed 21 Multimedia CDs programmes for 1st class (Telugu and Mathematics) developed with assistance of SIET, Ramanthapur, replicated and supplied to 1900 CAL schools in the state during 2014-15.
  • Proposed to develop and supply 46 Multimedia CDs programmes for 1st class (Telugu and Mathematics) developed with assistance of SIET, Ramanthapur, replicated and supplied to 1900 CAL schools in the state during 2015-16.
  • Proposed to Upload the above Multimedia Programmes in SSA Website.
  • Introduced Interactive Learning method by way of using 20 inches Android based tab in each class by using 1st class Telugu and Mathematics Subject and all IRI lessons in (3) Model schools i.e., ZPHS, Kalavapudi,Kalla Mandal, MPUPs, Ramnagar and MPPS -2 sanivarapupet, West Godavari District .
